Ocean Animal Research & Speech Project:

DIRECTIONS & INFORMATION:

Expectations:
This project is NOT a written report. It is a research & speech project. Students are expected to turn in a set of note cards and perform a carefully practiced speech.

1. Use the class website links (below), library books, and resources you find on your own to collect information about your
animal.

2. Keep all of your information in your project folder.

3. The folder must come to school each day!

4. Collect the information on your color coded index cards.

5. You have 2 of each colored card.
One is for a rough copy. Use it while you collect your information.
One is a final copy. Organize your information, print neatly, and use it when you give your speech!

6. You need 4/5 facts per card.

Sort your information carefully! Be sure not to REPEAT information on different cards!

Blue=APPEARANCE
Green= DIET
Pink=HABITAT/LOCATION
Yellow=ADAPTATIONS & SPECIAL FEATURES
Purple=INTERESTING FACTS

7. Study the information on your final copy and prepare to use the notecards to give a 2/3 minute speech!

This is how your speech will be scored:
8. After you give your speech you will use the final copy cards to create an animal display IN CLASS! The animal displays will be shared with your parents when they visit our classroom to tour our Undersea Adventure. A date for this event will be announced shortly!

9. Your research and all of your cards are due on MONDAY, MAY 11th!

10. You may also want to print 5/6 color pictures to use on your animal display board.

11. GOOD LUCK! Be sure to study the information and be prepared to give your speech on Monday, May 11th!!!
